Brotherhood is love

I love the F3 #wasnow stories. Judge Hairy went from 365 pounds to flat-sexy. The Judge knew he was dead in 15 years if he didn’t do something. His knees hit the dirt, and he asked God for help. God gave him F3. Floppy disk lost 48 pounds and started being able to focus on others. Columbo was a 265 pound cop, moonlighting at a school during an F3 workout. Now the guy has logged 225 workouts in one year, and is closer to his wife and kids. No Help was struggling with purpose after leaving the Marine Corps, in a dark place, and even lost his faith. Yet with F3’s brotherhood, he regained his purpose, and his faith. In describing the difference it makes, he rightly notes that “Brotherhood is love, and YHC loves this brotherhood. Truly a blessing.” Kato was suffering dizzy spells in his 40s, and easily winded at any attempt to play with his kids. Kato reminds us that a leader needs to kick a new guy’s butt to show the new guy esteem. In each story, with new brothers, each man achieved what he could not alone. There is a lot of hurt in the world. As Cindy points out in 10 minutes, F3 is part of the solution.

At #Horsey today, 45 men shredded their legs. I needed that. But what really drove me was the men at my side. Stinger, my partner, was running his guts out. How could I do less? Posse, who had trouble running any distance a year ago, arrived from Union County with a full head of steam and never stopped. Stickbug, Mr. Brady, the Leg, Alf, Belly, Swiper, McStuffins – all killing it. And what can you say about my brother Fishwrap? The man has gone from awesome to inspirational.

Great to be with you all this morning.

God bless.

You had to go and alphabetize the pax list.

Love it

… And still get it wrong. I know Doc and I share a great Wahoo heritage and have a hairline that most men envy, but we are not the same person.

Thanks, Stumpy!

I’ve been waiting for Ice 9 to come back to the UC so I could thank him for his service at Commitment and in me. But he hasn’t posted in a while. So my need to show gratitude uncharacteristically outweighed the logic of posting to a BRR prep AO.

That was unpleasant. I wish this neighborhood had remained unexplored. I didn’t spy Chester, but did get “serenaded” by a very aggressive terrier on a very long leash.

That was harder than the negative splits goal last week, which was You vs You. This time you had a partner that you did not want to let down by running slow. Kirk still had to put in a few extra meters but I think he picked the old man from the heard so he would have to work harder.

Great job Ice9. Love/hated it

And the cat kept trying to pounce on me. I’m not that slow – yet

Kirk didn’t seem to mind. Every time I passed him, he shared “motivational” comments about how slow I was running. I can’t wait to get back to SOFA WIB so I can make him lift heavy stuff for 45 minutes.

Options were attempt to jump in a 3-way with Swiper and FW, questionable decision, OR sidle (not saddle) up to Chelms, who was the next guy running without a partner. It’s a shame Alf isn’t a better horse whisperer, or we may have run close to the same distance. Fortunately, that enabled me to talk to just about everyone in passing, including Voodoo, who never returned serve, despite a plethora of material, post-stress fracture.

Chelms – if you hadn’t ended on a “15-minute cool down mile”, the cat may not have taken you for dead. The decision to wrap up with AYG hill repeats nearly caused my own death.

Loved seeing Posse out there after meeting him at Church on the Street. Next service opportunity with A51 is 9/4. Join me.

Large gathering this morning. The PAX just kept coming. I played Russian Roulette in the dark with my partner and landed on Fishwrap, mistake so I thought. Wrap – thanks for the push this morning. You’re crushing it.

Chester was out in full force and it was more disturbing than ever.

Public Service Announcement: Last official Horsey next week. Labor Day Horsey Free Play on the table. Then we turn Horsey to dog food until next summer.

Other observations:
–I have been Chester Free for over a month now and glad to keep the streak alive this morning, though I did see some disturbing graffiti on the road in that general area.
–No sight of Ogling Dog Lady. Must be her birthday today.
–Fang the Belligerent Mongrel added an extra dose of BRR game day training.
–Spooky busted his MAF target (and blood pressure) looking for the turn on Old Bell. Hard to miss 40 cars but he managed to do it. TClaps.
–The Emotional Whiplash from last week’s BB to this week’s is jarring.

When can we stop running? Please make it stop.

Am I the only one to Chester today. I saw the full moon and all as he walked into the spot light as I ran by. He also got in his car and started it in his drive way for a good 10 minutes. I was waiting for him to peel out and run us all down.

On a side note, I arrived late so had to park on the road of Old Bell. When leaving, there was not a good place to turn around so I drove back up Horsey. As I passed Chester’s house, he pulled out in front of me. We both went down Wilby and turned left on Sardis. I went straight and he turned left on Old Bell and drove very slowly by the parking lot. I saw your Jeep there still Tiger Rag. I think Chester was checking you out.

That dude is creepy.

Random thoughts:

-In 5-6 postings, I’ve never seen Chester. And, I’m ok with that.

-Chelm’s kitten, see above, was in full pounce mode this morning. Saw it sizing me up several times. Shouldn’t it be a scared-y cat?

-Chatted with the dog-walking lady, who may be the Ogling Dog Lady, or not. She has a large tan dog with a muzzle (or small horse bridle?). Anywhoo…nice enough lady, knew all about our BRR in a few weeks, shared that she has named all of their neighborhood hills (Everest, Kilimanjaro, etc), wished us well. I thanked her for her/their tolerance of our weekly runs, and she remarked that it was no bother at all. #communityrelations

-Agreed, the partner aspect did push me harder than the negative splits. (did I do them? negative) T-claps, Ice 9.

-I’m ready to stop all this running nonsense for a while.

You gotta bring your game for partner work, no doubt. Great idea, Ice, and thanks for the shout out. It’s incredible to see 45 guys in the gloom flying around. It feels like the good ‘ol days with those numbers. I’d love to see us hang on to it through BRR with more guys looking forward to the next event. Pick something, anything.

The next big local event is the Thunder Road ½ and Full Marathon and will be held Saturday, November 12, 2016.

Talk up, talk out.

HC for ThunderRoad 1/2. Let’s keep this AO rolling post-BRR. ‘Wrap, dude. WTF this morning? I lost sight of your headlamp after mile 3. You’ve removed all the Barry Bonds / RoboCop gear and gone all Kenyan on us. Did you stop dipping? Can you #Miyagi me for TR?
