Feel the BURN!

It was a beautiful morning, 78 degrees and only 84% humidity with clear skies. YHC led 16 PAX on a sweaty hour long workout. Since I’m still a novice Tweeter, only a couple saw my pre-blast which contained the following sparse information: we would be running a majority of the time, it would not be flat and we would not be in Raintree. And with a brief disclaimer we set off at 5:15am….

The THANG:

-One mile warmup. Mosey from SCMS up Strawberry left on Hwy 51 left into Davie Park down Windswept to parking lot for COP.

-Low Slow Squat x 15

-25 Merkins OYO

-Mosey out of Davie park, left down Hwy 51, left in to Carey Ridge to the end at Coburn Ct., plank up for the six.

-Run to the other end of Coburn Ct. and back (aka Half Pipe) as many times as time allowed. Regroup at other end of Coburn at 6:05 for some Mary. Flutter x 20, LBC x 20.

-Run back toward school, up Brownes Pond to Rosecliff to Strawberry. Indian Run back to SCMS.

MOLESKIN:

A smaller group for FT this time of year. Everyone worked hard on the hills of Coburn…it was a tough .6 miles each way, everyone got in at least 4 lengths with the faster guys doing 6. Turkey Leg fresh from vacation led the way with Alf and Gerber not far behind. Wasn’t too much chatter, we were all gasping for breath in the warm air. Sundancer was an FNG to FastTwitch, he seemed quite pleased to join the “running workout”. Kudos to PopTart, who despite confusing the post start time, still headed out to Five Knolls and Piper Glen just missing the group #ellobosolo. Thanks to Purple Haze for allowing me to lead these fine men. Thank you to Mermaid for the takeout.

Announcements:

Forgot to mention the quick scurry down to the track and back at the end to fill the last 3 minutes. Total distance ranged from 6 to 6.85 miles. Great run by all!!

“Pleased” is one way to put it. I was really hoping we were going to the Knolls so I could do the Irish Goodbye and bolt for SOFAWIB (double credit). To no avail, it was the world’s longest halfpipe instead. Clever marketing embedding it in the preblast, Fault Line, no one ever reads those.
Coming back from injury is hard and deciding to get back on the horse by going to HorseyMcHorseWrap and then following that up with FastTwitch (with my proven BICE recovery method (the “B” stands for bourbon) in between) probably isn’t the smartest way to come back, but we’re none of us professionals here, the disclaimer says so. But I digress, running is hard and running bootcamps are harder. I did one squat and I was wiped.
While passing me at a high rate of speed, Alf told me that being retired had made me slow, which might have been a back-handed compliment as I’ve never enjoyed the reputation for being fast. Regardless, I gasped something about “MAF’ing” and he totally bought it. Geraldo tried to hang back with me to be supportive, but I know an oncoming BRR headlock when I see one, so I shook him off. Great guy. Shame to see him down to 150lbs. Maybe it was the oxygen deprivation, but I’m pretty sure that Purple Haze’s beard started talking to me after COT. Margo has become Cousin It, and I’m feeling beard-deficient now. Us hirsute gents gotta stick together.

Sundancer, I think you forgot that your agent (Talk Box) committed you to Team Up n Over yesterday. It’s good to see that you’re diving into the training head first with HMHA followed by FT. Sorry to miss you, but I was in need of a fartsack this morning.

After a few 3 milers in the ADKs in NY in the low 70’s with zero humidity last week, that was a drop kick straight to the jaw. FT has been off the menu for the last month due to issues with my recovery and the aversion of miles. Great to get back out with this group. Solid Q Fault Line.

Speaking of BRR headlocks – there are reported to be at least two teams with an opening – see Honey Bee or Cheese Curd.

As for the pool party, it’s this Saturday! Sign up now!
